How To Create An Audience

Sure having a website with graphics is wonderful, but if no one visits it, the website doesn’t help.

Having a business is wonderful but if no one shops in your business, you won’t be in business long.

The first thing you must have in any business is a customer. Without a customer, you don’t have a business. In the online world, since customers are reading your materials, we call them your audience.

Things You Should Know About Creating An Audience

So, how does this apply to Internet marketing? The same principles hold true. For example, I have a Facebook page. As of yet, I haven’t invited anyone to like my page and I haven’t posted anything to it.

Having the page doesn’t actually get me closer to my dreams and goals.

But, having the page and using it to interact with the world will.

To create readers to your website or pretty much generate interest in anything (whether it is a new science museum or the local bagel shop’s Friday Morning Special), you must say something. If people don’t know, they cannot choose to support your efforts.

So, the easiest way to “spread the word” is to simply ask people to take action. Granted, only few will take action, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Recipe For Creating An Audience

Ingredients:
1) Website
2) Email List
3) Social Media Pages
4) Confidence
5) Time

Instructions:
Step 1: Using confidence, add structured* content that people are searching for to your website.
Step 2: Add links to the new content on various Social Media sites such as Twitter and Facebook as well as notifying your subscribers that new information is available.
Step 3: Finally, repeat step two while sprinkling in time.
Step 4: Wait one day.
Step 5: Repeat all steps.

*Search engines have expectations of what makes a “good” site. Be sure to structure your information not only to please human visitors, but also to please those “other” visitors.

Stay tuned for my next update. We’ll talk about the power of asking and why we want to hear the answer “No.”

    Very interesting Rachel.

A well set out step by step method of increasing traffic. I will start to implement those steps after the Easter Holiday.

    Regards.
    Pete.

Well hello Rachel, I would add an extra step or modify step 5, repeat all steps that are working.

Some of us are Twitter people others are Facebook or G+ people, you need to know where you are resonating the best and focus on that site, be courageous enough to say no to a platform that you know is not working for you and focus on those that are.

Brendon Burchard made a great comment recently, the biggest modern challenge is distraction, we all have goals and dreams but we allow them to become sidelined by popular distractions and the sites we are supposed to use.

That’s an excellent point! Thank you, Igor! This is something that you’ve probably learned over time by monitoring results. I’d love to learn more about how you’ve been able to find what works best for you. It’s always interesting to me how people find creative solutions.

Also, thank you for sharing that quote. He’s right on the money! In our world today, the best “time management” technique will always include self-checks to ensure we are focused on the most profitable or most productive activities (also known as MPAs).
